Pricing questions
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Every plan starts with a 30-day free trial, so you can connect your billing data and ask real questions before you buy.
How is Costory billed?
Plans are billed annually, or monthly at a 20% premium, by card, invoice or through AWS and Google Cloud Marketplace.
Do you charge a percentage of our cloud spend?
No. Pricing is flat within each spend tier: Starter (€250/month) and Team (€600/month) cover up to €10M annual cloud and AI spend, Business (€1,200/month) up to €20M, and Custom anything above.
Why fair use instead of per-seat pricing?
Seats punish you for sharing cost data, and sharing it is the point of FinOps. What actually costs us money to run is queries and AI, so that’s what plans are sized on. About 80% of our customers stay within Starter’s fair use. If you go over, we tell you, slow down the heaviest queries, and talk about the right plan. We’d rather you pay the right price than a surprise one.
Is the FinOps MCP included?
Yes. Playbooks, the hosted MCP server for Claude, Claude Code, Cursor, Grok Bot, GitHub Copilot and Dust, and Slack are included in every plan.
Do I need a Costory account to use the Costory MCP?
Yes. The Costory MCP is hosted and works with your Costory account: it serves your organization’s allocated cost data and Context layer. Start with the 30-day free trial or the setup prompt.
Why not connect the AWS MCP to Claude myself?
You can, and for one person on one AWS account it works. It stops working with more than one user (everyone rebuilds prompts, credentials and definitions), with a multi-provider stack (cloud, LLM and data cloud need one normalized, allocated model), and with several teams or features (allocation rules change with reorganizations and M&A). Starter, €250/month, covers those three for a flat fee.
Is Costory right for us?
If you run one cloud, spend under €100k a year and one person looks at the bill, Claude with your provider’s MCP is probably enough. Costory pays off when spend spans several providers, teams or AI models, or when nobody has time to watch it.
Does Costory optimize costs, buy commitments or change our infrastructure?
Costory finds and recommends optimizations, and your team or coding agent implements them. We never touch your code or infrastructure, never buy Reserved Instances or Savings Plans for you, and never get write access to your cloud accounts.
What does “pays for itself” mean?
Plans are flat, starting with Starter at €250/month. One accepted recommendation, such as rightsizing an oversized database or cleaning up idle volumes, can cover that. We don’t promise a savings percentage: results depend on your stack and on what your team decides to ship.
